Young Professionals Summit Re-Cap

WOW! What an amazing night last night. If anyone missed it, Edge’s founding sponsor, Drexel University organized the first Young Professional Summit which included the region’s top young professionals from Metro EDGE, Roseville Ignite, Nehemiah Emerging Leaders Program and ULI – Young Leaders Group where we all had the chance to network, enjoy good food and listen to speakers including the Honorable Kevin Johnson, Kathie Sowa, Northern California President of Bank of America and Bay Miry from D&S Development, who addressed hot topics on the current Sacramento Economy and tackled tough questions from the audience.  Our panelists spoke to issues ranging from Sacramento being listed among the worst metropolitan cities for young professionals to the role young professionals should play in the revival of the regions economy.  Our panelists were candid, honest and energetic and informed the audience on the different issues that are facing our current economy today and the impact young professionals can have on the successful growth of the Sacramento Region, directly correlating with EDGE’s 2010 vision to make the Sacramento Region a national destination.

What was even more amazing about the event, was the opportunity to meet and mingle with so many of the region’s up-an-comers, to connect with like minded YP’s, and as Drexels’ own Tobey Oxholm put it so eloquently, to go home with someone that night…ha…well what he meant to say was to go home with someone’s business card that night.  Not someone within your organization, but to add a fresh face to your contacts, to extend your network.  I would have to say, what a success.

A big thank you to everyone that contributed to the event last night, above all to Drexel University who gave us this once in a life time opportunity.
