15 Minutes of F.A.M.E. with Reuben Greenwald

Reuben Greenwald
Associate Director of Student Engagement and Outreach
Associated Students, Inc. at Sacramento State

Where do you currently work, how long have you been there, what do you do? unnamedFor the past 3 years, I have been working for the Associated Students, Inc. at Sacramento State. My position is Associate Director of Student Engagement and Outreach, where I get to supervise a group of talented student event planners, graphic designers, and event marketers. Additionally, I oversee the KSSU Student Run Radio station.

Prior to that? I spent 4 years coordinating student activities and leadership programs at Saint Mary’s College of California. In that position, I advised the Campus Activities Board, Student Government, and Residence Hall Association.

What is your educational background? I am currently working on my MA in Higher Education Leadership at Sac State. My BA is in Performing Arts from The College of Santa Fe.

What is the best part of your job? The best part of my job is the students who I get to work with. I learn just as much from them as I hope they learn from me. I really enjoy the relationships that I get to build with them and love to watch what they go out and do with their lives after graduation.

What do you love about living here? I grew up in Oakland, moved to Davis, and finally just settled in Midtown. I look forward to getting to experience all that Sacramento has to offer and making new connections. I love that within a short drive I can be at the beach, walking under the redwood trees, floating down the river, or taking an afternoon hike.

What is one thing that might surprise people about you? I used to want to be an actor, but realized that was a bit unrealistic and found myself drawn to the direction of college student affairs. I still find time to be creative by doing some freelance graphic design work.

When you aren't in the office where can we find you? You will probably find me hanging out in midtown, attending a movie, concert, or show, enjoying one of the great restaurants, or on a weekend adventure outdoors.
