ABOUT SONNY MAYUGBA

Sonny Mayugba is a marketing evangelist, published author, and an early internet adopter. He is currently Executive Vice President of the California-based marketing and communications agency Augustine Ideas, where he builds integrated strategies for select companies.

In 1993, Mayugba founded his own publishing house, Substance Media Works, which published two lifestyle print magazines and digital content on UseNet prior to the public launch of the world wide web, until his hit magazine, Heckler and Heckler.com, was acquired by TransWorld Media/Times-Mirror in 1996. He continued to run the publishing arm until 2003, when he then went on to Tower Records, where he led market development, digital strategy, social media marketing, and artist promotions.

In 2007, Mayugba founded Biteclub.com, the world’s first social network for the service industry. Mayugba helped launch the community contributor-driven hyperlocal news and information site SacramentoPress.com before being recruited to the executive team at Augustine Ideas. He is an occasional speaker and panelist and popular consultant. Additionally, he is co-founder of a successful cocktail bar restaurant concept called The Red Rabbit Kitchen and Bar.

Mayugba lives in Sacramento, CA with his wife and two foodie children.
