Josiah Prendergast

Business Litigation Attorney, Weintraub Tobin

Engage Chair

Josiah Prendergast is a business litigation attorney at Weintraub Tobin focusing on partnership and corporate governance disputes as well as traditional commercial litigation and bankruptcy matters. He moved to Sacramento after attending Cal (Go Bears!) and, following eight years of moves between DC, Florida, Virginia, the Bay Area, Orange County, and Fresno (born and raised), finally made his way back to Sacramento in 2017, with wife and dog in tow.

EDGE’s emphasis on belonging and inclusion was a key motivating factor in Josiah’s decision to join EDGE and pursue a leadership role. Having been the new kid in town through his many moves across state and country, Josiah knows first hand that relationship building is hard, takes time, and can be an awkward process for newcomers to an area or community. (Striking up conversation with a complete stranger or group of complete strangers is never easy. And if it is for you, well, we’re envious.) But meaningful relationships are the bedrock of successful and enduring individuals, businesses, and communities. With that in mind, Josiah chose to join the Engage Committee to focus his efforts solely on making relationship-building among EDGE members more effortless and evermore meaningful than the typical mixer and business card swap. To that end, Josiah constantly looks for ways to find common ground between otherwise strangers and foster mutually memorable experiences that can serve as a springboard to long-term professional relationships. (Because who’s going to forget the EDGE trivia teammate who suggested the McRib was McDonald’s second most popular item after fries? You know who you are… and now so do we.)

Outside of work and EDGE, there is a good chance you’ll find Josiah biking the American River Trail, playing cards with his wife Lindsey (a local pediatric hospitalist) at a brewery or winery (at least in non-pandemic times), or walking their two rescue pups in Arden Park.

Need a familiar face at an upcoming EDGE event? Let Josiah know you’re going and he’ll see you there.
