A key component of this plan is increasing the participation of young professionals in signature Metro Chamber programs for the purpose of building connections, learning leadership and fostering economic prosperity. Yet, many young professionals are challenged by limited resources in their pursuit to gain the very resources they need to better their careers and communities. To help young professionals experience the benefits Metro Chamber programs have provided for so many others, Metro EDGE proposes the establishment of an award program to gift funds to young professional members of the program.

The number and value of awards, from $500 to $2,500, will be determined by the volume and quality of applicants. See Rules section below for more details.

ELIGIBILITY

Awards will be given to applicants who show evidence of a commitment to the Metro EDGE mission, leadership abilities, and potential for future contributions to the Sacramento Region and community.

  1. Applicants must have been a Metro EDGE member in good standing for at least two years.
  2. Applicants must be active in Metro EDGE[1].
  3. Applicants must certify availability to attend program[2].
  4. Applicants must be able to contribute or fund raise remaining program costs for participation.
  5. Applicants must complete program application.

CRITERIA

Applicants should be exemplary representatives of Metro EDGE as evidenced by:

  1. Metro EDGE Involvement: Evidence of upholding the Metro EDGE mission statement, interest in pursuing the Metro EDGE vision, and overall dedication to driving Metro EDGE and its mission forward.
  2. Professional and Community Engagement: Evidence of involvement, demonstrated accomplishments, and/or leadership positions held in Metro EDGE and other professional organizations, and/or community service.

Rules

The awards will not cover a recipient’s entire cost of attending the program. The award recipient will still be responsible to pay such remaining costs, estimated to be approximately $800-$1,800 in total but subject to change based on award amount. To facilitate the funds sponsorship and marketing, award recipients agree to write a blog article about their experience and takeaways from the program.
