Volunteer Opportunity: Solar Install Volunteer Day with GRID Alternatives and Inspire Giving


Support this year's Inspire Giving recipient, GRID Alternatives, by volunteering to install solar for a local, low-income family. Join us for a fun day in the sun and give the gift of solar to those who need it most!


No experience is needed. Only preparation required is to view this 15 minute orientation video (if you have NOT participated in a GRID orientation before) for a quick intro to GRID, Safety and What to Expect on the jobsite.

What: Solar installation volunteer opportunity with GRID Alternatives. You can get up on the roof, be part of the ground crew, or a little of both. Tools, hardhats, water (bring reusable water bottle), sunscreen and step-by-step guidance are provided by the very skilled GRID Alternatives staff.

Where: TBD, in the Sacramento Metro Region

Attire: Wear long pants (at least covering knees) and closed toed shoes (athletic shoes are best).


Full logistics are provided to those who registered 2 weeks prior to the build. Below is a sample agenda:

8:30 - 8:45 AM: Welcome, Sign-in, Waivers

8:45 - 9:00 AM: Workday, Equipment Overview, Safety Refresher

9:00 - 12:00 PM: Installation of Solar Electric Systems

12:00 - 1:00 PM: Lunch (Provided by GRID Alternatives)

1:00 - 2:00 PM: Finish installation

2:00 - 2:30 PM: Clean up, Group photo
