SACRAMENTO, CA (January 8, 2015) — Launched in 2005, Dine Downtown was created as an effort to elevate downtown’s dynamic dining scene and drive traffic to local restaurants. Now 10 years later, Dine Downtown continues to draw people to experience decadent menus assembled by Sacramento’s top chefs.

This year’s restaurant week runs from January 15 through January 24, 2015 and will include 26 of downtown’s finest restaurants, each offering special 3-course dining experiences for $31. One dollar from every Dine Downtown meal will be donated to Food Literacy Center, a nonprofit dedicated to inspiring change in community food education.
During Dine Downtown, a party of four can make a difference in one child’s life as $4.11 provides a week of food literacy education for one child. “Those donations have helped us to reach more low-income, food-insecure kids and teach them about cooking and nutrition,” said Amber Stott, founding executive director of FLC. For Dine Downtown 2015, FLC has set a goal to raise $18,000 in donations so they can expand their programs to include 5 more schools.
Dine Downtown provides a significant boost for local restaurants especially during January, an otherwise slow season in the industry. Last year, participating restaurants served more than 15,300 meals throughout the 10-day event. Even more noteworthy, Dine Downtown garnered a whopping $3.5 million in restaurant sales from 2010 – 2014.
“Sacramento’s Dine Downtown has consistently been such a positive experience,” said Trisha Flynn, co-owner of Chops Steak, Seafood & Bar. “The selection of restaurants has always been incredible and with so many choices there is something for everyone to enjoy with an evening out at Dine Downtown!”
Follow the discussion on Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #DineDowntown2015. On January 8, DSP will begin a Countdown to #DineDowntown2015 featuring 5 daily scavenger hunts leading up to January 15. Prizes include: IMAX tickets, one night stay at the Hyatt, dinner for two at select restaurants, Food Film Festival passes and more!
